Adelaide City
Location: South Coast of South Australia
General Information: Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia. Adelaide was founded in 1836.
Adelaide has a population of just over 1.2 million people. It is a city located on the Torrens river. Adelaide is a planned city with wide streets set out in a grid like fashion. As opposed to some other cities in Australia which have grown in a sprawling manner. Adelaide has commenced the construction of a large water desalination plant. The plant will be able to produce up to 50 percent of Adelaide’s drinking water.
Sport: The city of Adelaide supports a number of sporting clubs including cricket, Tennis, Golf and soccer. Adelaide is home to the Adelaide Crows. The Adelaide crows are one of two teams that play AFL football in South Australia.
Adelaide runs the Clipsal 500 event for v8 Supercars each year at Victoria Park.
